House Guidelines

House guidelines for visiting Rap Joint Lagos, hours, etiquette and what to expect at the record store, listening lounge and restaurant.

Last updated: September 11, 2026.

Welcome

Rap Joint Lagos is a record store, listening lounge, restaurant, book club and events space sharing one address at No. 4 Norman Williams Street, off Keffi Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. These house guidelines keep that mix working for everyone who walks through the door, whether you’re browsing for twenty minutes or staying for the whole evening.

Hours

Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00–22:00. Sunday, 13:00–20:00. Closed Mondays. The Book & Record Store keeps shorter daytime hours of its own (Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00–18:00; Sunday, 12:00–18:00) — check the relevant page before a special trip, since hours can also shift for private events or public holidays.

Entry and groups

Walk-ins are always welcome. The listening room holds about thirty people at once — if you’re coming with a group of six or more, message us ahead of time at info@rapjointlagosng.com so we can keep space free for you.

We reserve the right to refuse entry or ask someone to leave where necessary to protect the safety or comfort of other guests or staff.

In the listening room

The room is built around the record playing, not around conversation over it. Keep voices low while something is on the turntable, and let the person who queued a record have their moment. Requests are welcome between tracks.

Photography

Personal photos and phone video are fine. Professional or commercial shoots — including for social media promotion of another business — need our permission first. We may film or photograph the space ourselves for RJL’s own marketing; let a staff member know if you’d rather not be included in a shot.

Food, drink, and outside vendors

Food and drink from the restaurant and bar can be brought into the listening lounge. Outside food and drink are not permitted, in keeping with how a venue that runs its own kitchen and bar normally operates — confirm this matches RJL’s actual policy before publishing. Outside vendors, promoters, or sellers may not operate on the premises without prior written agreement.

Age policy

Rap Joint Lagos welcomes all ages during store and restaurant hours. Evening sessions and any event with alcohol service are restricted to guests 18 and over, matching the general age of majority recognised under Nigerian law — confirm this matches RJL’s actual policy, and whether ID is checked at the door, before publishing.

Smoking

Smoking is only permitted in a designated outdoor area, if one exists on the premises — confirm the actual setup before publishing. The National Tobacco Control Act 2015 prohibits smoking in enclosed public spaces and workplaces in Nigeria, so without a compliant designated area, indoor smoking isn’t an option regardless of house policy.

Handling the stock

Records and books on the shelves are there to be handled — that’s the point of a listening room. We just ask that records go back in their sleeves and books go back where they came from, so the next person finds things the way they should be.

Membership access

Day Pass, Full Member, and Patron tiers each carry their own access rights (after-hours booking, Book Club inclusion, guest allowances, and so on) as described on our Members page. Membership benefits are personal to the member and are not transferable to a third party without our agreement.

Accessibility

[Describe step-free access, seating, restroom accessibility, or any accommodations available — confirm current physical setup before publishing.] If you need any accommodation to enjoy your visit, message us ahead at info@rapjointlagosng.com and we’ll do what we can.

Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines from time to time as the space and how people use it evolves. The current version is always the one posted on this page.
